Buc-eeâs taste test: We try (and rate!) the gigantic gas stationâs most popular snacks
People in Alabama have a serious jones for Buc-ee’s, the Texas-based chain known for its giant, colorful, chock-full-of-goodies travel centers. Four Buc-ee’s locations can be found throughout the state, from Athens to Robertsdale, and we wouldn’t be at all surprised if more were to follow.
A visit to Buc-ee’s is a super-sized experience, and a huge part of that pertains to food. We’re talking about breakfast food, lunch food, dinner food, snack food, junk food, late-night-I’ve-got-the-munchies food and more. Every Buc-ee’s location offers an abundance of things to eat, from the ultra-sweet to the absolutely savory.
Some marquee snacks stand out, however, as favorites among the Buc-ee’s faithful. The top five, as far as we’re concerned, are Beaver Nuggets, jerky, sugared nuts, barbecue brisket and fudge. People who visit Buc-ee’s absolutely adore this stuff, and folks in Alabama are no exception.
With that in mind, staffers at AL.com decided to conduct their own taste test, to see if the Big 5 at Buc-ee’s lives up to its reputation as, well, the BEST SNACKS EVER. There were no rules for this unscientific enterprise, except to grab the popular treats from our area Buc-ee’s, scarf ‘em down and share our thoughts.
Buc-ee’s most famous snacks: Yes or no? Watch AL.com’s Ike Morgan, Ivana Hrynkiw Shatara and Ben Flanagan answer that question in the video at the top of this post.
